No Drama

Welcome to SLink! I have to start with one of my most massive pet peeves about what people write in their profiles.

First, let me clearly state that a person's avatar profile is their personal space and they can do with it whatever they like... but some things are just enough to make me wince. "No Drama" is at the top of that list.

The fact that you are logged onto a computer and right now you are reading these squiggly lines on your screen and you are deciphering that they represent words and this is a skill that leads me to the conclusion that you are a normal person who has some English literacy. You are certainly a daughter or son, maybe a sibling, possibly a parent, likely an employee, probably a lover. All of this to say that you are leading a life that ultimately all pieces together into a real life drama. A massive drama - almost a play where you play the lead role in your own drama. And you also play a supporting role in other people's dramas.

So to those who say "no drama" in their profile I say...
To avoid drama, just log inworld, sit your pixel butt on a rock and watch paint dry or pick lint out of your navel but for heaven's sake don't make friends, don't make enemies, don't fall in love and don't interact at all.

For better or for worse, every person you will ever meet is doomed to drama.

And here is the other big secret... the people who are in SL a lot are likely leading pretty boring RLs. In fact they may even have crappy RLs or lonely RLs or sick, sad, confused RLs. So expect drama!

Besides, what kind of person does it make you to say "no drama" "take yo drama to yo Mama" etc etc...

Imagine if once upon a time a man in sandals walked into a crowd among the sad, scared, unwashed, lonely, sick, and dying... Imagine if he raised his hands and said to them "no drama."

Now imagine a huge "NO DRAMA" sign hovering over your home, your office, your synagogue, your mosque, your church, your phone. Imagine... where would the family turn in grief? Where do they go for help? How do you fall in love without drama? How do you miss someone if there is no drama?

Please please please don't write "no drama" in your profile... unless it happens to be an inworld bot. In that case, I have to admit - your mantra would be quite appropriate.

So if you are inworld and have drama in your lives (real OR second) I say, "bring it on." To me it only is a reassuring sign that you are a sane, sensitive, real human being and you can tell me all about what is awesome, good, tolerable, bad, or unbelievable in your drama-filled life.

I am ready and waiting for our dramas to intersect. I just hope you will credit my role in your drama if it's a speaking part. :P
